
Tributes have been paid to popular and well-known Waterford City photographer Leo Murphy.
Leo from Knockboy, Waterford died on April 12th and his funeral details have been announced today.
His death notice describes him as “a devoted husband to Linda, the best dad to David and Gina, and the greatest brother and uncle to the extended Murphy and Walsh families, he captured thousands of the happiest moments of people in Waterford, but he was definitely happiest when surrounded by his family, friends, and his framing.”
Leo was well-known through his business Leo Murphy Photography located on O’Connell Street.
Leo’s Requiem Mass will take place on Sunday, 27th April, at St Mary’s Church, Ballygunner, Waterford, at 3:00 pm, followed by private family cremation.
The Murphy family will walk from the family home at approximately 2:30 pm to arrive for Leo’s Funeral Mass at 3pm. House is strictly private for family only.
His death notice adds: “In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kevin Bell Trust would be greatly appreciated in gratitude for their incredible care and support in bringing Leo home. The Murphy family appreciates your sympathy, support and understanding at this difficult time.”
Tributes to Leo have described him as “gentleman” and a “brilliant photographer” with many people sharing memories of happy occasions which he photographed.
