
Tributes have been paid to a Leaving Cert student who died in a single road traffic collision in Co. Tipperary on Thursday evening.
Eighteen-year-old Bronagh English died when the car she was travelling in entered the River Aherlow shortly after 10 pm.
Bronagh was a Leaving Cert student at Rockwell College.
After 10 pm, a car left the road at Kilaldry Bridge, Kilmoyler, and entered the River Aherlow.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the L3101 or in the Kilmoyler area between 10 pm and midnight last night are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
According to the latest data from the Road Safety Authority (RSA), 184 people lost their lives on Irish roads in 2024 — a 12% increase compared to the previous year.
This recent road death brings to 53 the number of people killed on Irish roads so far this year.
