Tributes have been paid to long serving member of Dungarvan Brass Band, John Dee, who died suddenly this week.
John, from Parklane Green, Abbeyside, died on Sunday last March 10th.
In a social media post, Secretary of Dungarvan Brass Band Chris O'Sullivan said: "As well as being a stalwart member of the band for nearly five decades, John also held the role of band treasurer, which he carried out for many years and always played a large part in organising fundraising activities for the band. John also took charge of transporting equipment to and from all band performances."
Mr O'Sullivan added: "His loss to our lives and the band will be hugely felt, and on behalf of the band, the committee would like to extend our deepest condolences to William, John's relatives, friends, and the wider musical community."
All upcoming band activities have been suspended until further notice.
John is deeply mourned and sadly missed by his brother William, aunts Martina and Lelia Cunningham, uncle Gerry Cunningham, aunts-in-law Mary and Pearl Dee, Breda and Mary Cunningham, godson Ewen Donnelly, cousins, relatives and friends.
John will be reposing at The Kiely Funeral Home, Dungarvan this evening (Wednesday) until 7 p.m. with Prayers at 6.30 p.m. Requiem Mass takes place at 11 a.m. on Thursday morning, 14th March, in St. Augustine's Church, Abbeyside. Interment afterwards in St. Mary's Parish Cemetery, Dungarvan.
