An Orange Snow warning in place for Kerry, Cork, and Waterford has been extended until 8:00 P:M . A yellow status warning for low temperatures and ice will be in place for the whole country until Thursday.
Many roads are impassable across Waterford this evening. There are reports of treacherous conditions at Fenor Church as well as the car park at Kilmurren with a burst mains adding to difficulties there.
Conditions are also bad near Bunmahon, with difficult traveling conditions entering and leaving the village.
Backroads approaching Tramore are also understood to be dangerous, with reports of cars stuck on some inclines approaching the town.
A bus was also reported to be in difficulty on the upper yellow road in the city.
Major delays have been reported on the M9 motorway this afternoon North of Waterford near Mullinavat which Gardaí have described as 'snowbound'.
They're advising motorists not to travel if at all possible where Waterford City Fire Service was also in attendance due to a road traffic incident
However, it does appear that the worst of the snow has passed, with attention now turning to how conditions will fair out overnight.
Bus services have also been impacted locally, with most city and county services operating at a reduced level.
Tesco stores across Waterford City and Tramore have also closed in the last few minutes.
