Tramore RNLI are warning swimmers to be careful after a man was rescued from the County Waterford beach today.
Crew member Paul Tuohy says conditions are quite dangerous at the moment.
The RNLI received a call at 12.51 pm this afternoon from a member of the public that there was a swimmer in need of assistance near the Guillamene.
The lifeboat was launched at 1.02 pm and the swimmer was plucked to safety from the rocks.
Paul Tuohy says the man was an experienced swimmer, he was wearing his full triathlon gear and luckily enough he was wearing a yellow cap which helped the lifeboat
crew members spot him.
He says the message needs to go out that even an experienced swimmer in the conditions the way they are today, which is quite choppy, can get caught out.
The sea is quite cold and there is a south easterly wind for the last couple of days and Paul says if you are going to swim in the sea, let someone know that you are heading out.
Paul says the man rescued today had someone with him who were able to raise the alarm.
