A male swimmer who got into difficulty near the Guillamene in Tramore this afternoon has been taken to University Hospital Waterford.
Tramore RNLI launched their lifeboat this afternoon after they received a report of a swimmer in difficulty near the Guillamene.
A member of the public alerted emergency services to the incident at 12:18pm and Tramore RNLI Lifeboat arrived at the scene at around 12:25pm.
The swimmer had made his way to rocks close to the Guillamene.
The Tramore RNLI arrived at the rocks and the man was recovered and brought to the pier.
He was assessed for hypothermia and sustained a number of cuts and lacerations.
An ambulance arrived at the scene and he was taken to University Hospital Waterford, where his injuries are understood to be non-life-threatening.
Tramore RNLI are advising swimmers that the water temperature at present is cold (8-9 degrees Celsius) and there are swells in the water.
