A Tramore residents group has been named runner up at the Pride of Place Awards last night.

An Garrán Residents group was announced as runner-up in the Urban Neighbourhood under 3,000 category.

The group were nominated by Waterford Council last August to represent the county for the 2022 awards.

Taking home the win was Sailortown in Belfast at the 20th anniversary of the All Island Pride of Place awards.

The Pride of Place awards is an annual competition organised by peacebuilding charity Co-operation Ireland and sponsored by IPB Insurance.

Established to promote and celebrate the best in community development, the awards recognise the selfless efforts of people in making their local neighbourhoods better places to live, work and socialise. The awards also recognise the efforts made by community groups over the post pandemic period during 2022

Pride of Place is an All-Island competition whereby local authorities from across the island of Ireland nominate groups in their communities who they feel have made a significant contribution to improving their neighbourhood, working collectively.
