Waterford City and County Council has refused planning permission for a proposed motorhome park at Tramore Burrow, Tramore, Co. Waterford.
The application, lodged by Aengus Rory Walsh on October 29th, 2024, sought to develop an 11,420 sq.m. site featuring 52 motorhome pitches (including three accessible spaces), four glamping pods, service points, waste facilities, a café, surf club building, laundry and kitchen units, and a street food plaza.
In its decision on October 9th, 2025, the Council cited concerns raised by Uisce Éireann regarding the adequacy of local water and wastewater infrastructure.
The local authority stated it was “not satisfied that the proposed development would not be prejudicial to the sustainability of the public water/wastewater supply,” adding that the proposal would be “premature pending the resolution of identified issues” and could pose risks to public health.
As a result, the Council deemed the development contrary to proper planning and sustainable development of the area. The applicant has the right to appeal the decision to An Coimisiún Pleanála.
