Waterford City and County Council has granted Planning Permission for development by Tramore Community Allotments.
The group's members have been given the go-ahead for their project in the Riverstown area.
Speaking to WLR, member Caroline Burke says there's been a great response to the proposal.
"It has been phenomenal with over 90 people on our list.
That is for people showing interest in wanting an allotment, and over the coming weeks, we will be having a public meeting and will be in touch with everybody and putting posters [up]."
It is very important that people attend the public meeting, as we will also be [hosting] fundraiser events.
Located across from the old Party World unit, the allotment will stretch to the edge of the Oak Crescent estate.
Caroline continued:" I have to give huge praise to Waterford City and County Council, to Councillor Eamon Quinlan and to Blaise Hannigan, who has been a huge support over the last 11 years.
"It has been [years] of hard [work] but we finally have gotten it over the line."
