Tramore boxer Zara Breslin turns professional
After 14 years in the amateur ranks, Tramore boxer Zara Breslin has announced she has turned professional.
Across those 14 years, she won 5 Irish titles and represented Ireland at European and World level.
Notably, she defeated Siobhan McKenna in the final of the Irish Senior National Championships in 2019.
Additionally, she defeated Isabella Hughes 5-0 in last year's National Elite Competition.
Here, she earned the 60kg national title.
Breslin made headlines during her 2023 fight with Kellie Harrington at the Irish National Elite Championships.
Harrington, then an Olympic champion, dominated Breslin 5-0 to earn her 10th national title.
New Challenge
Announcing her move, she said she is 'ready for the next challenge.' She added she is 'excited to chase new goals in the professional ranks.' Last October, a mayoral reception was held in City Hall for Zara Breslin in recognition of her achievements. The 25 year old has been involved with Tramore Boxing Club since her early years. She will be working with Robbie Flynn Management and together with Robbie, Zara will be supported by Ray Kelly, her long-time coach.Sports News on WLR is with thanks to Rapid Cabs - call 85 85 85 or download the app today.
