Millions of people around the world cannot afford a healthy diet and are at risk of malnutrition.
That's the message going out as today marks World Food Day.
The Day is a United Nations Global Event that aims to raise awareness on food poverty and food security.
Food drives have been taking place in the lead-up to it over the last number of days, including in Waterford.
People have been delivering donations to drop-off points around the city.
Liam Quinn is involved with Waterford Food Bank and says today is an important day.
"It's an issue that doesn't get spoken about too often but it's real and it's out there and we expect the problem to grow with the current cost of living crisis," he said.
Between 150 and 200 food parcels are delivered to families in Waterford City every week.
The Waterford Food Bank work closely with St Vincent de Paul and FoodCloud.
Liam says they're delivering more and more food parcels these days.
