Met Éireann is warning of the potential of heavy showers with localised thunderstorms with a risk of spot flooding.
May began with warm temperatures, with some areas reaching up to 25°C. However, this warmth was short-lived, and the latter part of the month saw a return to cooler and more unsettled weather.
Frequent rain and drizzle affected many regions, particularly in the north and west. Temperatures during this period ranged from 13°C to 17°C, which is slightly below the seasonal average for late May.
Looking ahead, the extended forecast suggests that Ireland will remain under a persistent band of cloud, with rain and drizzle affecting many areas, particularly in the north and west. Temperatures are expected to range from 13°C to 22°C, with the warmest days reaching up to 21°C.
