Three Waterford beaches retain Blue Flag status with 7 Green Coast Awards

Three Waterford beaches have retained their blue flag status this year including Ardmore, Clonea and Tramore.

Counsellors' Strand in Dunmore East and Dunmore Strand, however, lost theirs after today’s announcement.

Meanwhile, seven bathing areas in County Waterford have also retained their Green Coast Awards

They include Annestown, Ballyquin , Curragh, Goat Island Beach, Guillamene & Newtown Cove in Tramore and Kilfarrassey.

An Taisce announced the recipients for 2023 with a record breaking 159 awards, an increase of two awards compared to 2022.

The Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Mr. Darragh O’Brien, TD, presented the awards at an ceremony held at the Shoreline Hotel in Donabate, Co. Dublin.

The International Blue Flag is a global award and shows areas that have an excellent standard of water while green flags are given for an area's clean environment, clean water and natural beauty.
