Three deaths have now been confirmed following a fatal crash which occurred last night just outside Cashel, Co. Tipperary.

The single vehicle collision occurred shortly before 9pm last night when a car struck a wall in the Windmill Knockbulloge area of Cashel.

An infant was declared dead at the scene and taken to Tipperary University Hospital shortly afterwards.

A man and woman who were travelling in the back of the car were also declared dead at the scene.

It's understood they were all part of the same family.

The man who was driving and a woman who was travelling in the front of the car are currently in, what Gardaí describe, as a serious condition and are in Tipperary University Hospital receiving treatment for their injuries.

A technical examination of the scene will take place today, Wednesday August 30.

The road remains closed since last night to facilitate an examination of the scene.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to contact the investigation team.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Windmill Knockbulloge area near Cashel between 8.30pm and 9.15pm this evening are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
