Thousands of local Uisce Éireann customers remain under Boil Water Notices this weekend.
Around 4,000 customers on the Carrick-on-Suir Public Water Supply were placed under a notice earlier this week due to issues at the local water treatment plant.
Uisce Éireann says it remains in place and works are being carried out to address the issues at the treatment plant to enable the lifting of the notice as quickly as possible.
Uisce Éireann’s Colin Cunningham said: “Public health is Uisce Éireann’s number one priority and we would like to assure customers that the notice has been put in place to protect their wellbeing. Our compliance and operations experts are on site and are working to lift the notice as quickly and as safely as possible. We understand the impact a Boil Water Notice has on the local community and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
Also this week, Uisce Éireann issued a Boil Water Notice to protect the health of approximately 671 customers supplied by the Ballymacarbry Public Water Supply.
This follows increased turbidity in the raw water source and it remains in place.
A Boil Water Notice was in place for the Kilrossanty Public Water Supply for a lengthy time for the same reason, while a Do Not Consume Notice was in place for the Ballyogarty Supply in Kilmacthomas due to arsenic levels in the supply.
Both of these notices were subsequently lifted.
