Theft of workmens tools at St Patricks Hospital site

Gardai in Waterford city are investigating after a number of vehicles belonging to workmen on the St Patricks hospital site had their vans broken into a tools stolen early this morning.

The incident, which happened on the grounds of the St Otterans Medical Centre, took place between 7:30 and 10:30 am.

Around 12 vehicles, mainly vans belonging to the workmen, were broken into and power tools worth hundreds of euro were stolen.

Gardai are asking anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen anything suspicious to contact them on 051 305300.

In a separate incident a barrier on the toll road on the new bridge in Waterford was rammed by a vehicle at around 8am this morning.

No one was injured but some damage was done to the toll booth.

Gardai are investigating whether or not the 2 incidents are linked.
