Teen to go on trial this year accused of attempting to murder Waterford priest

A teenager accused of attempting to murder an Army chaplain at a Galway barracks last year will go on trial at the Central Criminal Court in May.
The now 17-year-old boy, who cannot be identified due to his age, is charged with the attempted murder of Fr Paul Murphy (52) at Dún Uà MhaoilÃosa, Renmore, Co Galway on August 15th, 2024.
The accused was present in court on Monday when Mr Justice Paul McDermott gave him a trial date of May 6th.
The case will be mentioned again on February 12th to update the court on how the disclosure of evidence is progressing.
