Taoiseach Simon Harris says the government are committed to delivering for SETU.

The former Higher and Further Education Minister assumed the role of Taoiseach last week following the resignation of Leo Varadkar.

Speaking in the Dail, Waterford Green TD Marc O'Cathasaigh queried whether the commitments given in the past still stand.

The Taoiseach says government support will continue long into the future.

"I'm really proud that we've managed to deliver a university for the South East, but I'm also very aware that its success or otherwise will absolutely depend on our continued level of support and investment as it embeds and grows. I'm really proud of the progress that it's made so far but each of the issues that you've outlined, the PPP, student accommodation, veterinary, pharma, professorships, are absolutely issues - I'll take an active interest in. I've already spoken with the new Minister for Further and Higher Education in relation to that."

The ministerial role has now been taken over by Patrick O'Donovan since Simon Harris assumed the Office of Taoiseach.
