Over 400 former Waterford Crystal workers remain in the dark on the status of their pensions.
In the early 1990s, the workers accepted a voluntary redundancy offer, whereby they say they were not fully informed when signing the documentation.
That has now led to the repercussion of them not receiving a pension. The insolvency of the company has also added to the difficulties they face in finding a solution.
Waterford Sinn Fein TD David Cullinane says the workers have been promised a meeting with the Taoiseach.
"They've been left in a very difficult situation and feel that it's a real injustice. They recently met with Sinn Fein Leader Mary Lou McDonald in the Tower Hotel who promised to bring their concerns to the attention of the Taoiseach - Simon Harris. He has now agreed to meet with a delegation of the workers. That is essentially what they have been looking for from day one - to be heard."
He believes the case must be independently assessed and answers must be found.
"What they were looking for is to be heard and for their case to be independently assessed - and in my view, that is the fairest thing to do - whether it could be The Pension Authority or whoever is appointed to do it. We should appoint someone independent to look at all of the issues, to see if the paperwork and the offers were made. The workers obviously say they were not. If they were not, then obviously there is a case to be made for those workers to be compensated."
