Planning permission is being sought from Waterford City & County Council for a crematorium in the Tallow area of West Waterford.

The application was lodged with the local authority on July 11th by Aidan Walsh.

The applicant seeks permission to extend an existing funeral home to provide a crematorium and showroom on the northern side of the building with a chapel and ancillary accommodation on the southern side of the building and all associated site works.

The site in question is on the Michael J. Prendergast Road, Tallow, Waterford – and a decision is due on or before September 4th of this year.

There are currently no operational crematoriums in the South East – though planning permission has been granted for a development in the Riverstown area of Tramore.
