The Cistercian Abbey of Our Lady of Silence says it’s in discussions with a like-minded faith community that could take over the care of Mount Melleray.

The monks announced their departure seven months ago, and since then, several proposals for the site have been considered.

If the talks succeed, the new custodians would continue the Abbey’s tradition of prayer, welcome, peace, and study.

The order says it hopes this will mark a new chapter for the Abbey, preserving its nearly 200-year heritage while opening it to the future.
