The Christmas Personal Fitness Challenge in Tramore yesterday morning proved to be a hugely successful venture with participants coming together to help raise money in aid of St Vincent de Paul.

Mark White Taekwondo and Fitness hosted the event as part of this year’s WLR Christmas Appeal at Tramore AFC.

Yesterday’s event raised a staggering €19,428.70.

The event invited people to come together to help raise vital funds for families who need help this Christmas.

WLR’s Oliver Carroll was in attendance on the day as he interacted with both participants and supporters as people showcased a mix of fitness, fun, and festive giving on Saturday morning.

Pat McCarthy from St Vincent de Paul stated it is great to see communities coming together to raise money to support people.

Mr McCarthy also believes there are several factors at play now as to why St Vincent de Paul’s services are in demand.

“There’s a combination of events in terms of the cost of living increases that is driving new people to come to our doors as well as people who are already in a poverty trap. There is an awful lot of need out there. It’s great to have the support of fundraising and other activities so that we can help individuals and families who are hungry or cold,” he said.

Paul Power from Tramore AFC praised the work of Mark White following another successful iteration.

“Mark is unbelievable. He transcends fitness. He’s fantastic with people and to do a fundraiser every year for St Vincent de Paul is fantastic.”
