Stradbally beach reopened following discovery of suspicious device

Stradbally beach has been reopened after a suspicious device was found washed up there earlier this week.

The alarm was raised by a local woman, who was walking her dogs at the time.

The beach was closed to the public from Wednesday evening.

The Army bomb disposal unit carried out a controlled explosion there earlier this afternoon and the beach has been deemed safe.
