Met Éireann has issued a Status Orange – Rain weather warning for Waterford as very heavy rainfall is expected to fall on already saturated ground.

The warning is valid from 9 am on Thursday, February 5th, until 9 am on Friday, February 6th, 2026, and was updated at 6:45 am on Thursday.

Forecasters say the combination of persistent heavy rain, high river level,s and high tides significantly increases the risk of:

  • Localised flooding

  • River flooding, with possible impacts along the full length of river systems

  • Difficult and hazardous travel conditions

Residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas are advised to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rainfall, and follow updates from local authorities and emergency services.

Motorists should allow extra time for journeys and be alert for surface water, poor visibility, and potential road closures.

Further updates will be issued by Met Éireann as conditions evolve.
