Spate of thefts from vehicles reported in Waterford City

A spate of thefts from vehicles in Waterford City has been reported to An Garda Siochana in recent days.

Overnight from January 3rd (Friday) to January 4th (Saturday), there were a large number of thefts from vehicles and attempted thefts from vehicles in the following areas:

• Lismore Park
• Ardkeen Village
• Maypark Lane
• Bracken Grove.

CCTV has been obtained and investigations are ongoing.  Two men in dark clothing were observed at one of the thefts.

In a statement to WLR News, An Garda Siochana said: "We would ask people to check video doorbell footage and report anything that may be relevant to the investigation.  We would also encourage people to be extra vigilant when securing their vehicles and not to leave valuable items in the cars or vans.  If you have a work vehicle consider enhancing the locks or improving the alarm on the vehicle if you have to store tools and other items overnight."

The statement added: "As always please report any people or vehicles  that you think are acting suspiciously in your areas to Waterford Gardaí on 051 305300.  If you see a crime taking place or suspect that a crime is taking place please phone 999/112.  Or you can leave a voice message on 1800 666 111."
