17 sexual assaults were reported in the Waterford, Dungarvan and Tramore Districts in February.
That's a 31% increase in the number reported in the first three months of 2023.
Figures outlined at a recent meeting of Waterford's Local Community Safety Partnership show that 17 non-aggravated sexual assaults were reported in February 2024.
Three were reported in January, while there were no reports in March.
The number of reports in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the previous twelve months has risen by 54%.
Elsewhere, the number of assaults causing harm has risen by 55%, with 59 reported in the first three months of 2024.
Burglaries are also on the rise, as are incidents of arson - while public order offences have seen a 29% increase.
Thefts from vehicles and drug offences have seen a decrease, as have minor assaults and property crime.
