Over €17 million in funding has been announced to deliver 212 community projects nationwide through the Community Recognition Fund.

This is the third announcement of projects under the recent fund, and is designed to assist communities across the country which have welcomed new arrivals in recent years to their cities, towns and villages.

€789,686 is being provided for seven Waterford projects through the latest round of the Government’s Community Recognition Fund.

The successful Waterford projects are:

· Clonea Power/Mothel Clonea GAA Club – €81,720

· Waterford City and County Council – Refurbishment works at Dungarvan Sports Centre – €50,000

· Ballinroad Soccer Club – €51,477

· Dungarvan United Athletic Football Club – €50,000

· Waterford Tallow Tallow GAA & Camogie Club – €50,000

· Waterford Waterford City Waterford City & County Council – Phase 1 of Carrickphierish Recreation Park – €450,000

· Waterford Disability Network – €53,429
