A section of the N25 Waterford to Cork road is closed this morning to facilitate a technical examination following a fatal road traffic collision.

A cyclist in his 60s died after a collision with a van on the N25 at Carrigtwohill, Co Cork yesterday (Wednesday) at around 5pm.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The male driver of the van, aged in his 60s, received treatment at the scene.

The road was closed overnight for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators  and the examination of the scene will take place this morning.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 4.30pm and 5pm, on Wednesday, are being asked to make footage available to investigating Gardaí.
