A further Met Éireann Status Yellow Rain Warning is in place for Waterford from 00:00 Thursday, January 29th, to 00:00 Friday, January 30th.

The warning comes into effect a short time after the country weathered Storm Chandra with damage and road closures caused to much of the south east

Drivers are advised to slow down, allow extra stopping distance, and remain alert to vulnerable road users including pedestrians and cyclists.

Waterford’s road network has largely reopened in the aftermath of Storm Chandra, with the exception of the R675 at Annestown, which will remain closed overnight due to ongoing safety concerns.

Although conditions have improved, Waterford City and County Council is urging motorists to remain cautious, as patches of surface water continue to affect several routes.

Residents whose homes have been impacted by flooding or storm damage can now access the Department of Social Protection’s Emergency Response Payment.

The payment offers short‑term financial support for essential needs such as food, clothing, bedding, and household items, and may also assist with structural repairs and damage to essential contents

Stage One of the scheme is currently open and will remain available until Wednesday, February 4th, 2026. Further details are available through the Humanitarian Assistance Scheme.
