A second man (30s) has been arrested in Dublin in connection with the assault of two off-duty gardaí in Dublin over the weekend, which left one in critical condition.
He is being detained at a Garda station in the Dublin region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
The man (30s) who was arrested on Saturday December 14th in relation to the incident continues to be detained.
Two male off-duty members of An Garda Síochána were injured in an assault in Dublin in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The incident occurred at around 1.30am on Saturday morning at the junction of Dame St and Eustace St, Dublin 2.
Both gardaí sustained injuries during the attack.
One of the men (40s) was taken to Beaumont Hospital Dublin where he remains in critical condition.
The other man was taken to St James's Hospital Dublin for medical treatment and was discharged.
An incident room led by a senior investigating officer has been established at Pearse Street Garda Station.
Investigations are ongoing.
