Waterford Labour General Election candidate Sadhbh O'Neill has entered the race for Seanad Eireann.
O'Neill, who received 1,500 first preference votes in the General Election, was eliminated on the 7th count.
Sadhbh O'Neill is among the candidates for the Trinity College Dublin University panel.
O'Neill is an environmental activist, researcher and lecturer with 30 years of experience whose expertise is in climate and environmental policy. The Labour candidate is also a regular contributor to The Irish Times.
"A vote for me is a vote for people-centred climate action. I will campaign for policies and propose legislative reforms to accelerate the energy transition, and to protect and restore nature. I will hold the government to account in relation to Ireland’s legally binding climate targets. Our economic security depends on a green transition but we must do this in a way that is both fast and fair for all our people and that supports businesses too. As a senator I will press for more investment in public transport, secure and sustainable funding for higher education, affordable housing, electoral reforms and corporate accountability."
