RTÉ has spent at least 140 thousand euros on make-up in the past two years.

Luxury retailer, Brown Thomas, saw the highest proportion of the spend at 67 thousand euro, while 4-and-a-half thousand euro was spent in Tesco, and just over 4 thousand euro in Boots.

The broadcaster’s central make-up department accounted for almost half of the 144-thousand euro bill, with ‘Fair City’ spending almost 17-thousand euro.

‘Today with Maura and Dáithí’ spent just over 15 thousand euros on make-up and cosmetics between January 2023 and March of this year, according to the Irish Sun.

Separately, the RTÉ payments scandal, which came to light in June 2023, unveiled significant issues within Ireland’s national broadcaster, leading to widespread public and political concern.

In response to the scandal, RTÉ has initiated several reforms aimed at restoring public confidence. These include implementing stricter financial controls, enhancing transparency in presenter payments, and considering structural changes to its funding model.
