369 new .ie domains were registered in Waterford in the first half of this year, according to the latest report by the IE Domain Registry (IEDR), the company that manages and maintains Ireland’s official country domain name, .ie.
The figure is a 15 percent year-on-year increase for the county.
The rise in Irish website registrations locally is part of a national trend, with 112 new domain names being registered daily so far this year.
David Curtin, Chief Executive of IEDR, said: “The remarkable half-year growth of .ie domain name registrations is a testament to the strength of the brand. SME owners and consumers alike recognise that .ie is ‘Identifiably Irish’, representing trust, authenticity and familiarity."
David said the rise in registrations hasn't been this good since 2011, and indicates good business growth.
