Revive Tramore: Local group promotes charity through sustainability

Hundreds of items have been rehomed in Waterford thanks to a local sustainability project.

Revive Tramore, the brainchild of Tramore local Suzie Duffin, promotes sustainability practices, with events being run in recent weeks. The project has gained positive local attention, with swap shops set up for people to take items free of charge by donating unwanted items in return.

Donations can be given with hundreds of euros raised for Meals on Wheels and Tramore Allotments.

Today's event takes place in Riverstown Community Centre from 2-5 PM, and speaking to WLR News, Suzie says the group has gained massive attraction.

"The idea was to help people out within our community and also to reduce the amount of items that go into landfill unnecessarily. The group has really exploded as people have welcomed the ethos and the sense of community that had been missing since Covid kicked in has returned. Hundreds of items have been rehomed, we have raised €130 for Meals on Wheels, and €680 for Tramore Allotments, and tomorrow we have our second free event!
"Our first free event was for Men's and women's clothing and shoes. Members of the group were welcome to come and take 10 items for free. We had overwhelming support, with many members calling to the event. We raised money through tea, coffee, and cakes (which members had donated) and we had donation buckets should anyone wish to pop a few quid in.
"Today's event is going to be huge! We have been collecting great/new condition toys, games, books, and clothing for the last month, with 4 volunteers storing the items. This will allow all members to come down and take 10 toys, 10 clothing items, and 1 special stickered item - totally free of charge. Donations are welcomed but not essential."
