A traffic survey is due to be carried out on a controversial Waterford roundabout in October.
There have been numerous issues on the Farronshoneen Roundabout since the introduction of Active Travel measures since early 2024.
The issue was raised at this month’s Metropolitan Meeting of Waterford Council, with Independent Councillor Declan Barry, querying when the second study will be carried out as he had expected it to take place in September.
“Residents have been very patient, albeit very frustrated, so I would hope a full review would take place upon completion of the study” he added.
Councillor Barry, highlighted the first traffic study was carried out in May and does not fully take account of traffic during the school term.
Responding Michael Murphy, Active Travel Senior Engineer at Waterford City and County Council said the new study will commence in October as guidelines from Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) do not recommend traffic counts taking place in September, as they are influenced by people starting school and may not be using public transport.
