Numerous residents in a Waterford City housing estate are opposing plans for the construction of apartments in the local area.
Plans for the proposed development at Deerpark were submitted to Waterford City and County Council in June by Noel Frisby Construction Ltd. and include 79 apartments in three blocks.
Residents of Deerpark say they are concerned by the proposal for the construction of these apartments surrounding their homes.
Their objections centre on what they claim is a deviation from the original plan for the development, a blocking of natural light, a lack of parking and traffic management, among other issues.
"We respectfully urge Waterford Council to reject the proposed construction of flats and uphold the original plan of building houses," a spokesperson for residents said.
"We believe that maintaining the initial plan is in the best interest of our community and aligns with the principles of fair and responsible urban development."
