An operation is ongoing in the Comeraghs this afternoon following the discovery of a woman's body yesterday evening.
Teams currently on the County Waterford mountain range expect the operation to continue late into the evening.
At present, South Eastern Mountain rescue are among the groups on foot in difficult terrain.
With low clouds still present in the area, it looks like the Coastguard Rescue 117 helicopter will not re-appear this afternoon.
The search operation was stood down last night for Gillian Ryan from Thurles after her body was discovered in a deep gully near Coumshinghun lake.
She was an experienced runner and set off at lunchtime on Sunday.
Local Cllr Ger Barron says the tragedy reinforces the danger of the mountains:
"The last thing I imagine that this ladies' family felt when she left to go hill-walking on Sunday was that she wasn't coming back because she was a fit lady and she knew the mountains well.
"It's just a terrible, terrible tragedy but it bears a little thing of 'these are mountains after all and they are dangerous," he said.
