The Waterford based Coastguard Helicopter airlifted a passenger off a cruise ship in the early hours of this morning.

It’s after the passenger suffered a heart attack on board the Celebrity Eclipse, which was off the Wexford coast at the time.

Rescue 117 was alerted at 4.00am and evacuated the patient, their spouse and the ships nurse.

The patient needed treatment in a Cath Lab so they were airlifted to Dublin Airport where they were met by the National Ambulance Service.
