Dungarvan Shopping Centre is launching Quiet Hours for all Neurodiverse Individuals and Families. Running every Sunday from 10 a.m.- 12:00 p.m, there will be several environmental changes to the centre.

No music, no announcements, and dimmed lighting are some of the changes being implemented during the hours. Speaking to WLR News, Rebecca Meehan, from the A-Team Dungarvan, explains the benefits of the initiative.

"It will create a space that's more comfortable and a better environment for anybody who is attending the shopping centre on the day with any form of sensitivity. We're starting the initiative with our group the A team in association with Dungarvan Shopping Centre. This will incorporate help for anyone with an additional need in terms of people with sensory sensitivity.

"For the Shopping Centre in Dunngarvan, it's going to look like dimmed lights, there's going to be no announcements over the speakers, and the music is going to be turned off.

"Aldi introduced their quiet hours internationally, but for ourselves in Dungarvan, it's very personal for us. We are all parents of children with additional needs, and we are more aware of the importance of inclusivity.

"It's also championing integration for people with additional needs in our community."
