Following the enforcement of Grace’s Law nationwide, banning the use of scramblers in public places., attention now turns to E scooters.
The new law came into effect on friday following the death of 16 year-old Grace Lynch who was hit by a scrambler in Finglas in Dublin in January.
We asked the people of waterford if they thought more could be done to regulate e scooters in the same way as scramblers. Many expressed worry about the lack of awareness that E-Scooter users show on the roads.
“They don’t care about the road, they just come out of nowhere and go onto any lane they want.”
When asked about what more can be done to regulate the usage of E-scooters or make them safer on the road, many of those interviewed believed that not enough is being done.
“Maybe they need to be trained so they know how to properly use the E-scooters, maybe they need to be trained to use the right part of the road, but more can be done.”
“Just give them their own lane or something, so that they are away from motorists and drivers who are trying to use the roads.”
