A protest calling for the urgent provision of 24/7 cardiac care at University Hospital Waterford will take place in Dublin this afternoon.

The demonstration, which has been organised by the Waterford Council of Trade Unions, is to highlight the sub-standard practice of transferring cardiac patients by ambulance to Cork Hospital.

Participants will gather at the Garden of Remembrance at 2pm, before marching to Leinster House.
