A local Fianna Fail Councillor says cranes should be visible over the north quays by the start of next year.
Adam Wyse expects the site notice to go up in May with the local authority voting on the plans two months later.
The following timelines are proposed for future elements of the North Quays project:
Quarter 2 2019 Falcon Real Estate Development Ireland to submit planning application for mixed use development within the Strategic Development Zone. (the target is May)
Quarter 3 2019 Waterford City and County Council to submit Part 8 planning application for Transportation hub. (This should come to Council in July)
Quarter 4 2019 Waterford City and County Council to commence demolition contract / enabling works and Kilkenny County Council to commence construction works on the Serviced Lands Initiatives in Ferrybank / Belview area.
Falcon Real Estate Development Ireland to commence construction works within the Strategic Development Zone site.
Quarter 2 2020 Waterford City and County Council to commence construction contract for Sustainable Transport Bridge.
Quarter 3 2020 Waterford City and County Council to commence construction contract for Access Infrastructure and Transportation Hub. .
In relation to jobs, we expect there will be 2,300 direct jobs during the construction stage and this will have a knock-on impact on the wider economy by creating 4,600 indirect jobs. In terms of expenditure the dirct spend on the project is €500m.
