This Friday in Dungarvan, Waterford City and County Council will host a special meeting as part of the nomination process for the 2025 Irish Presidential Election.

Fifteen individuals are scheduled to present their case for support, each seeking the backing of local authorities needed to secure a place on the ballot paper.

Under the Constitution, a presidential candidate requires the support of 20 Oireachtas members or at least four local councils.

Candidates are currently presenting to councils around the country.

Former MMA fighter Conor McGregor withdrew himself from the race – having faced backlash throughout the course of his intended campaign.

Peter Casey, a businessman who previously contested the 2018 presidential election, is among the speakers.

Dolores Cahill, a former University College Dublin academic, has also confirmed her candidacy.

Kieran McCarthy, an independent Cork City councillor and former Lord Mayor, is presenting to Waterford councillors.

Donncha MacGabhann, a retired art teacher from County Limerick, is also scheduled to present.

Gearóid Duffy, a former public servant with over three decades of service, is included on the agenda.

Nick Delehanty, who has announced his intention to run, will present in Dungarvan.

Gerben Uunk, originally from the Netherlands and a co-founder of the Party for Animal Welfare, is also listed.

Additional names scheduled to address Waterford City and County Council include Dr. Joseph Chikelue Obi, Lorna McCormack, Keith McGrory, Catherine Morrissey Smyth, Sarah Louise Mulligan, Lucy Ann O’Leary, David Parnell, and Dr. Cora Stack.
