Presentation to mark Waterford priest’s 60 years of service

A special presentation was made this weekend to mark the 60 years of service of a popular Waterford priest.

Abbeyside native Fr Michael Enright was ordained in June 1964.

He started his ministry in London and has served in various parishes including Stradbally, Ballylaneen and Faha.

During a special Mass to mark the bicentenary of St Anne’s Church in Ballylaneen, attended by Bishop of Waterford and Lismore Alphonsus Cullinan and Cardinal Sean Brady, a special presentation was made to mark the 60th anniversary of Fr Enright’s ordination.

Fr Enright has many interests especially sport. He is an avid Manchester United supporter and has been involved with athletics for decades.

He was a mentor to Waterford Olympic silver medalist John Treacy and was in Los Angeles in 1984 to witness the Villierstown man’s success.

Fr Enright enjoys keeping fit and is a member of a local sea swimming group which swims regularly on the Copper Coast.
