A post-mortem has been completed on an infant who was fatally injured by a dog at her home in Clashmore, Co. Waterford in the early hours of Monday morning
Three month old Mia O'Connell was attacked by the family dog as she slept.
She was taken to Cork University hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
Garda investigating the death are preparing a file for the County Coroner.
The dog involved in the incident has now been destroyed.
A family liaison officer has been appointed to the family who ask that their privacy be respected at this time.
