Popular local chef seeks to open restaurant in Tramore

Permission has been sought for a new restaurant on Tramore's Main Street.

The application has been lodged in the name of a popular local chef and businessowner.

Adriano Cavaliere has submitted a planning permission application with Waterford City and County council for a restaurant on Main Street.

The local chef and business owner already runs Enzos in Ferrybank and Azzurro Restaurant in Dunmore East.

The long-vacant property has previously housed a bookmakers and a pre-loved shop.

However, in 2021 Waterford Council welcomed submissions from interested parties for a combined residential and retail offering in the building.

The application seeks to change the use of 9 Main Street from retail to a restaurant.

As part of that, it is intended to have a restaurant inside, and a glazed outside eating area with retractable canopy.

Waterford Council as the registered owner of the building have consented to Mr. Cavaliere making the application for a change of use.

The decision over any future land disposal will remain in the hands of elected council officials at the next Metropolitan District meeting.

A decision on the application is expected on or before August 15th.
