Electoral staff in the county have been told to resume preparations for the poll, with an official announcement expected later today.
The poll was suspended on Monday in the wake of the sudden death of independent candidate Marese Skehan at her home in Thurles.
Under the Electoral Act of 1992, the vote was paused and nominations for the five-seat constituency reopened.
Overnight the Attorney General has been considering whether the suspension was in breach of the Constitution - which states that must take place within 30 days of the dissolution of the Dáil.
The Government has held extensive consultations with the Attorney General overnight on the issue and later today, the Department of Housing is expected to announce that the poll will take place as planned on Saturday.
Several candidates in the constituency have paid tribute to Ms Skehan in the days since her death.
Her funeral will be held in Thurles tomorrow morning. She will then be laid to rest in St Patrick’s Cemetery.
