A new councillor has been co-opted on to Waterford Council at today's Plenary Council meeting.
David Daniels has now succeeded his father as Independent Councillor following the death of Cllr. Davy Daniels in January of this year.
He was proposed by Cllr. Mary Roche (Social Democrats) and seconded by Cllr. Seamus Ryan (Labour Party.)
The gallery in City Hall was filled with family members and supporters making for poignant scenes at the meeting.
Newly co-opted Cllr. Daniels will serve out the remainder of his father's term.
