Waterford City & County Council’s plans are progressing significantly for a theatre venue in the town of Tramore.
The feasibility study is complete and is now in the hands of the senior executives of the council.
A number of possible sites have been located, as discussed on WLR’s ‘Déise Today’ this week.
This project has been driven by Waterford City & County Council with the co-operation of the Tramore Area Community Theatre group.
Group founders James Power and Garrett Wyse spoke recently saying: “We would like to thank Waterford Council for their drive and ambition for this project.”
They said “Tramore will be all the richer” as a result.
Tramore Area Community Theatre was established by a group of interested, experienced and professional people from the arts, community and voluntary and media worlds.
A representative from TACT was on the evaluation committee and also helping over the course of the study to identify suitable places and spaces in the Tramore area.
Up to 14 potential sites were identified, business modelling, cash flow analysis and a public survey were carried out with TACT’s help and support and that study is now complete.
The study was extended when it was realised very quickly that the town of Tramore was badly lacking in social, community, sports and cultural etc. infrastructure, including facilities and services.
The study will be presented to the Tramore Town Centre Management Group (TTCMG), who officially commissioned the study and adopted and recommended to the full Plenary council for their backing and support.
