Plans are progressing for Tramore's new theatre, a recent meeting of Waterford Council has heard.
Last year, a public meeting on the need for a theatre space in the town was held and almost €50,000 in funding was granted under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme for a full assessment of potential sites.
Speaking at this month's Metropolitan District meeting, Michael Quinn, Director of Services for Economic Development, provided an update:
"The next step in the process is to appoint the consultant to undertake the work so that's kind of two to three months in finding the service and putting it out," he said.
Following this, and engagement with stakeholders will take place.
Consultants will then start works on the new theatre.
Michael says that the consultants report realistically will not be ready until roughly September or October.
